Foothills Wine, Art and Music Festival -
After The Party
The 1st Annual Foothills Wine, Art and Music
Festival was held on Saturday, October 26, 2002 at
the Old Wilkes County Courthouse Square in historic Wilkesboro, North
Carolina. The Festival was sponsored by the City of Wilkesboro and Wilkes
County to promote the local wineries and vineyards.
Friday night's rain stopped, and by the 10a.m. opening, the
fog had lifted as the wineries and vendors finished their setup and the early
birds started to trickle in. The pace picked up after noon, and a steady
stream of visitors tasted their way around the winery booths, visited the vendor
food stands <who had the BBQ alligator?>, and shopped for candles, wood
furniture, photographs, gold and silver jewelry, and arts and crafts. It
was a family affair, and a number of "little ones" were soon adorned
with face paintings. The music drew a crowd to the stage seating, and the
Dracula performance was a big hit with all.
